EDO 2000 Float information:
EDO 2000 float barrels are manufactured in China. EDO supplied all Rivets, Hardware, Sheetmetal, Forgings, Castings, Extrusions, Bow Bumpers, Paint, Primer, Sealant and raw materials. EDO quality department spent 6 months in China last year working on this project. All floats are 100% inspected by EDO quality department at the detail parts level, sub-assembly level, final assembly & leak tests.
All detail parts are 100% anodized and epoxy primed at the detail part level. Once riveted into sub assemblies ie: a bulkhead, the part is then reprimed to make sure the rivet heads and bucktails have a coat of primer. The insides of the floats get a second coat of primer after assembly to make sure all rivets are coated.
The water rudder posts are stainless steel and were made in Seattle. All of the attach gear was manufactured in Seattle with the exception of the tie rods which come from Scotland. The attach gear parts are 100% anodized and epoxy primed just like the floats. Floats and attach gear are top coated with 3 coats of aluminum lacquer. Cables were manufactured in Connecticut.
The sealant used in the floats is Bostik 920, a marine sealant. After passing all quality inspections including leak testing, the floats are seam sealed on the outside with a 2 part PRC sealant. The seam seal is an additional measure of sealing that is not required by drawing. Just something that is done to make the floats better.
Each set of EDO's had dual water rudders, spray rails, cleats forward and aft, float balls for the pump outs and a 24" pump.
